I was wondering how to record music that is generated by a programm (in this case ixi)that works with algorithms
I guess it should be possible ,but dont now how to do it
the sound card wat i have installed is a YAMAHA DS-XG
As so far i can see i cant record with it .
is there an other way ,maby with some specific software to record?
I hope someone can give me some hints ,how to do this!

Hi quest00,

Look where the speakers and game controller connect. Look for extra 1/8" female plug next to the speaker plugs. Some are marked, but most use a color code to distinguish which plug is what. There will need to be one for "Line in". If this plug exists (the vast majority do have this plug), then your sound card will capture for recording. This act of capturing is usually done through the software supplied by the manufacturer (this will be mixer software). Check your disc that came with the sound card and if an OEM like Dell, check Yamaha's web site to see if you can download it. This software will allow you to record into a file all input that comes from the Line in plug.

A simple splitter from Radio Shack that plugs into where the speakers plug into the sound card and splits to provide two female plugs. One of the split female plugs is where the speakers are plugged into and the other female plug is for recording plug. A short 3 conductor wire with 1/8" male stereo plugs on each end can connect the other split off female plug from the speaker connection plug to the Line in connection. This way anything you can hear on the speakers can be recorded as you are recording the same signal that the speakers get.

hi drcard
in the first place thanks for you re respond
i bought my self a cable today with a splitter ,and connected the outline with the inline (a plugged in splitter in "line out" with speakers and a stereocable pluged in connected to the "line in") as you told me
via a music edit program "soundforge" i have tryd to record the sound from the other application "ixi"
without success .
I have tryd also the connection from line out to the microphone plug in does nt work either
soundforge does record in to the scoreboard but without sound ,so it seems that the signal is not picked up .
maby I have not understood you properly .
regarding the game controller "midigame" port.
should there be a connection too?
or is there something else what i should know?
in case you that you might know let me now
thanks again>

Check that your volume control sliders for recording are up and that the 'mute' box isn't ticked.
Have you ever been able to record anything, or is this problem unique to this program?

hi hotfusion ,chekked it!
but it still does not work
the sound is alright ,I only can t record
so I was trying for the first time to do this
as far as recording from the computer
Paul

Check your input source for the recording device. There should be settings for line/mix/cd or similar. Set it to "line". If this doesn't fix it, try mix.

You can also check the standard system volume control. Select display for recording and make sure it is not set to micro and/or muted there...

By the way: you could also do a Google search for "CoolEdit". (Either version will do it, including CoolEdit 95).
It's a really good program for such purposes, since you can also edit the recorded music in various ways (bass boost, overall boost, echo, noise reduction...).
Plus: Once the prog is registered (shareware) it will allow you to save as MP3 too...
