We have the following network setup:

1. WINDOWS 2000 SERVER (AD,DHCP,domain server)

2. WINDOWS 2000 SERVER ( our application server) "ABC"

3. All workstations are windows xp professional.

The application server "ABC" had veritas, symantec and other service in it. It has 2 NIC cards , external one talks to the outside world(internet) and internal one talks to the local network.

Long time back we had some issues with "ABC" server , like its looses the network connection(it cannot ping to the local network or any of the users cannot ping to it). But when we reboot the ABC server everything works fine.

And now from few weeks i had seen one of the user who comes
to the office early morning at 6AM, if he cannot connect to the application server "ABC" he just goes there and restart the server and everything works fine again.

I had checked the event logs on both the servers and i could hardly see anything happening.

Is there a way i could diagnose the correct problem and resolve it.

1) Can i track or record the connections on the server,
like when it might loose the connection ?

2) Can i run some diag tools on the NIC's which will keep
track of the connections to the NIC or report any issue?

--Thanks
Cathy
