Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to Crystal. I have a text file on a folder - c:\test .. file name is footer.txt. This text file contains the text that goes into the footer. I want to be able to retrieve this text from the file and display it on crystal. I tried to insert a text object and insert from file. It takes the contents from teh file but when the file is changed (lets say a line is added) then that change is not reflected into the crystal report. I want to be able to do that. So that when the text file changes and the user opens the crystal report it will show the new footer

Any help will be higly appreciated. Thanks

You might set up an ODBC connection to the text file from within a subreport. This would be based on the format of the text file.

Or you might use Insert->OLE Object and point to the file using Browse. Make sure that you select Link, and note that the users would then have to click on the icon to view the contents.

Our UFL will read individual lines and search through Text files.

We are about to expand our cViewIMAGE utility to include an entire Text file inside a database field. It will work in a similar way to the Images it currently processes. Already working fine with Txt and HTML files.

Just needing to add RTF files to complete the packaging before it's available on our web site. Email me and I'll send you a trial version.
