We have two backup servers running Veritas backup exec and the one that has tapes from previous backups has crapped.

I need to know what steps to take to read those tapes in another tape drive. I am not real comfortable with backup exec (tech that handles this is out) since I'm an arcserve person (on Novell) and this is on an NT box.

I hope someone can just show me how to see the contents of a tape...and soon since we're in a bind here. TIA

Assuming your other drives supports the same tape format, all you need to do is inset the tapes > inventory the drive(so that BE can read the tapes label) > and then catalog the tape (this will rebuild/update the on disk catalogs ie whats on that tape).

Hope I have understood you correctly

Cheers
