How to read a respective line in a file

I need to read a string in a respective line of a file. How can i do it?

NOt sure what you mean. If you arerefering to readiing a line which is Relative to some value ([CurrLine + 5 | CurrLine - 3]) ? Then, it depends on the file and the open mode. If the file consists of fixed length records and is opened in Random mode, you can just set the index / record number of the record to be retrieved. this topic is wel covered in the help system and requires more explination than is appropiate here. If you have specific questions after reading the help system or this is NOT the scenarion, please post additional details.
