Assuming you currently have 2k on disk/partition1 and XP on disk/partition2 and have dual boot from 2k's boot menu. In this case, reinstalling 2k will stop XP booting - so before doing so, save files boot.ini, ntldr and ntdetect.com from root of C: (win2k) drive (last 2 should be XP versions). Reinstall 2k, then replace 3 files with saved versions. You may also need to run XP's recovery console for FIXBOOT command.
If you currently just have single boot XP, post back with more details (eg, 2 separate disks or just partitions on same disk)?
