Hi, all!
BC9, CNI76, 1-LIM system, single (non-duplicated) control system, 2 TMU in LIM:
We had alarm "324 FAULTY TMU BOARD" on one TMU & "62 BUFFER TRANSFER HARDWARE FAULTY",
FTTDI, FTMDI give NOK, well, BLDBI, CNBOE for faulty TMU, second TMU is O.K., but "62 BUFFER TRANSFER HARDWARE FAULTY" remains ?

Well, RFEXI, but "62 BUFFER TRANSFER HARDWARE FAULTY" remains and red LED on LPU5 is lit. What to do to back to normal LPU state, i.e., to go to this state:

"If none of the LEDs are lit, the control system to which the board belongs is in the executing (active) mode in either a single (non duplicated) <...> control system. "

red led on mpu5 means hardware failiure, hence the alarm.
IMHO the LPU5 must be replaced

What You See Is What You Get

Not always LPU is faulty. Some time LPU red led light when DSU is faulty.
Suggestion:
LSFTI :LIM=1,FULL=YES;

Thanks for remarks!

LSFTI :LIM=1,FULL=YES; gives us O.K.:

SPONTANEOUS PRINTOUT

LIM SWITCH FUNCTION TEST RESULT FOR LIMNO 1
LSU CM : OK
AM : OK
PROM : OK
RAM : NO TEST PERFORMED
CLOCK : OK
HDLC : NO TEST PERFORMED

Thanks for the "hint", may be so...

this is what alex has to say abou this alarm :

Measure/Question Observation/Comment

1 Has any of the fault codes 97, 98, 100 or 103 been received?
2 Consult fault locating directions for actual fault code.
3 Check the LIM switch by using the command LSFTI . Consult operational directions for LIM-SWITCH, LS.
4 Did the command indicate any LSU error?
5 Replace the LSU board or DSU board in the indicated LIM and magazine. Consult operational directions for CONFIGURATION OF HARDWARE, REPLACEMENT.
6 Is it possible to make a call in the indicated LIM?
7 Replace the LPU board in the indicated LIM and magazine. Consult operational directions for CONFIGURATION OF HARDWARE, REPLACEMENT.
8 Is the fault code received frequently?
9 Replace the LPU board in the indicated LIM and magazine when it is convenient to do so. Consult operational directions for CONFIGURATION OF HARDWARE, REPLACEMENT.

seeing that lsfti is ok, only solution is to swap lpu board...

Hi, patcher!
I've given a kick... by LALRL, after that system goes down, no response, no loading even after switch off power... LPU5 intermittenly shows red LED then off... no loading in spite of two HDU's.

Unfirtunately, we have no LPU display. Will search for it.

Well that is the only tools you need right now in order to see why its not loading.

just change the f*cking lpu, it's broken :))

What You See Is What You Get

Now we have got LOG2 board (LPU-display):

9024 or 9064 (on another LPU5)
3300 or 3100 if the other two magazines power switched off
2700
and back again.

Changing LPU and DSU didn't affect on the situation.

Changing LSU gives these codes:

9024 or 9064 (on another LPU5)
8200
8800
71
and back again.

looks like you have LSU problems then,

code 8800 means "failed to boot LSU board"

could also be caused by defective dsu.

try this :

deconnect all dsu cables on lsu except mag0.

remove all unneeded mag0 boards (only need lpu, lsu, dsu, ipu, hdu, power)

what I do in such cases, is take a WORKING lsu, dsu, lpu trio and put this in the problem system. If it still doesn't work, you could have really bad luck because it would be a backplane issue then...

cheers & good luck!

Dear whosrdaddy, thanks!

Will do it.

Hello HIREI, you had to bring a dummy LIM(the one you know its working) and connect it to LIM1. You have a serious hardware fault. Dummy LIM is any magazine that contains LPU,LSU and DSU plus GJUL. Be sure you labeled all cards. Then you start trouble shooting your fault.

Hello, patcher!
You're (as whosrdaddy too) quite right. We were fighting all evening and solution was to replace magazine. System now is up but with exeptions - seems not to see all magazines above - and, therefore, LSU under suspicion - may be port or two faulty. We now have no spare LSU on the stock.

Question - previous backplane - why it go down? Power jump at night or lifetime (hidden physical or chemical processes) - it is 7 or 8 years old. But station last 3 or 4 years is in a warm, conditioned room.

We've got old backplane - shiny dark green board without any rust :) or other damages.

Well, no one know why the backplane become faulty. I have 1 site here, back plane just die without any reason. The LIM doesn't reload. Remove all unnecessary boards and still faulty. Brought new magazine for testing, put all the boards even power to the new mag and it works. This means the old magazine is broken.

Hirei,

what type of backplane do you have?? (I mean what LBP or BFD number)
