Is to redo it the only method?

seems there is LiLo of Linux that handle it between windows and Linux.how about sco unix?

Unless he ended up with SCO installed beyond the 1024 cylinder mark, he doesn't have to reinstall. In fact, installing SCO last is the recommended way unless you are using 3rd party boot managers.

See "man bootos". You can use the SCO boot manager to boot any partition. Tony Lawrence

i couldn't find anything relevant to solve the problem.can u tell me some concrete steps?

but when i typed "dos" in the right back of boot prompt,i got "hd(40)dos",then no response amazingly.what on earth should i do?

you are supposed to type at the boot: prompt

bootos 4
or
bootos dos
or just
bootos
