I'm a teacher and have an OLD IBM thinkpad 500 (model 2603-17N) in my archives (along with a Timex, assorted Radio Shacks, etc) that I would like to get to work. It uses IML BIOS system. From all I can find out about it, some of those files seemed to be corrupt. Sometimes it would boot..sometimes it wouldn't. I have downloaded all I can find about it and have the disks from IBM. I have done an unconditional format on the hard drive, F-disked it and done a DOS format. I have put the system files on it. I can read and write the drive, but it won't boot at all now..gives the error message.."no boot sector found on hard drive".
I'm pretty sure it has to do with IML because it loads fine from the diagnostic disk. I am lost...can anyone help? Thanks
