I created a letterhead to use it as a template. I need to protect the heading and footing that I created, so no one can change it when using it for a memo, letter, etc. Can you tell me how to do this? I am using Word 2003.

Anyone please???

Thank you,

FYI: While the link does suggest a method that works as the OP requested, it does quite a number of other things that may not be desirable.

Yes, it will prevent changes to headers and footers, but it also:

- does not allow inserting, or using bookmarks
- does not allow even SEEING any bookmarks
- does not allow inserting comments
- does not allow inserting a page number
- does not allow changing a page number
- does not allow ANY Shading action (tables excepted)
- does not allow ANY Borders action (tables excepted)
- does not allow a Word Count
- does not allow a table Sort
- does not allow Track Changes toggle
- does not allow adding a Template of add-in
- does not allow type/style changes to bullets or numbering
