Greetings,

Our office has just installed a Merlin system. The desksets are Merlin MLX10D's. No one seems to be able to tell us how to programm the buttons to dial the following sequences:

1. to get messages, dial number, pause, extension, then password, then 2.
2. to dial 8, pause, then 789, and then wait for me to enter the extention number.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, You really can't program a button to do it all for you, but I can tell you how to dial fewer numbers to get your voice mail.

I do not understand the dial 8, pause then 789, is that how you get into voice mail now?

Usually, a speed dial for VOICE MAIL is put on a blank button:

AT A DISPLAY PHONE, PRESS Speaker, Press intercom Dial #00, press any BLANK button and dial *22 and the EXTENSION NUMBER of VOICE MAIL. (770, 777, 7929, whatever it is) and then press ENTER.

Now, you can access Voice Mail by pressing that button, when VM answers, HIT ONLY THE POUND SIGN (if you are at YOUR EXTENSION) then Password and Pound Sign.

2, & 0 and you're listening to your messages.....

Hi merlinman,

Items 1 and 2 are seperate requests. Our old phones (ATT analog) let us program both of these and it is a real time saver. For 1, my goal is to push one button and start listening to mt messages, and for 2, to push one button to access our intercompany phone system (8,) then dial the appropriate plant prefix (789) and then wait for me to enter the extension number. I deal with over 40 people on a routine basis so setting up a speed dial for each person just doesn't cut it.

Thanks for your help!!

Is 789 at a different location, on a different switch?

How is it connected? Tie Lines, or ???

When you dial 789 do you get a second dial tone?

If the connection to 789 is on a seperate line pool, it may be possible to set it up for you to just press 1 button and then dial the ext.

.

If your office just had a merlin legend put in the Installation company should be able to tell you how to program buttons otherwise you sould get a refund for part of the installation price because they didn't finish the job!

Merlinman,

I will try to answer your questions with my limited knowledge to help ypu help me.

Is 789 at a different location, on a different switch?

yes, 789 is at a different location

How is it connected? Tie Lines, or ???

Yes, dialing 8 pause connects you to the company tielines

When you dial 789 do you get a second dial tone?

No there is no additional dial tone.

If the connection to 789 is on a seperate line pool, it may be possible to set it up for you to just press 1 button and then dial the ext.

Sure sounds like you are getting closer to a solution I like!!

Thanks for your help!!

OK, at the phone you want to do this:

Press Speaker, Intercom, then dial #00, then press a BLANK button, and dial *21 8 PRESS THE HOLD BUTTON and then dial 789 and then press ENTER.

Now, when you press that button, the system will:

Dial 8

Pause

and then dial 789,

So you should be good to go with that.

Let us know if it works.

Merlinman, You guidance was right on!!! I was out of the country and just got back and tired it. Worked perfectly. Sure wish you could dream up something to let me push just one button and get all the way into listening to my voice mail...

Thanks for your help!!
