How to produce different confirmation messages by clicking one button?

I would like to know how to produce two different confirmation messages/ dialog box by clicking on one button? The confirmation message will need to do some checking on the data.

I have tried using the javascript to get the data from a label but it can't work, so can someone help me in this. It is urgent.

It depends on how you are generating your data. Is there only one button on the whole page? Are you using Pages or servlets? If you are using a dataview in a Page examine the rowgenerate event for the dataview - it allows you to capture information as each row is built. If you are using servlets then you have total control anyway. You need to specify more information in your request.
