Hi,

Don't know why I'm not getting a full page when I print a PDF that was converted from Indesign. What do I need to do to get my printer or my client's printer to print a full page when they open my pdf file? When I print, the result comes out missing about a 1/2 inch around the edges of the page.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Most office printers have a maximum print area that is less then the full width & height of the page (.5 in or so being common) so, if your work extends to the very side of the page, it's not going to work.

The work around is to print on larger paper size and trim back to the size of job.

Hello JM,

Thanks for the tip! Although printing pdf files generated from other programs such as WORD, ACCESS, or EXCEL prints out the whole page with no clipping. Since this only happens when I convert an Indesign page into a pdf file I thought there would be some kind of format in the program to fix this little glitch. I will try your tip to see how it comes out. Problem is that my client would have to take the same steps in order to print the full page intact. What a dilemma.

Thanks again for your help.

If you're just getting some shrinkage on the prints, look at "page scaling" in the print window for Acrobat or Reader - or in the print setup for the printer. Also check page setup.

Are you sure the pdfs are not simply following the margins of the indd document? Have you set bleed areas in indd if you want stuff to go past the margins?

Could you be using the 'fit to page' option in Reader's print dialog? If so, disable it.

If other PDF files print, there is an issue with your print settings.

Thanks Jim and JM! Will try it out your suggestions tonight.
