How to post inventory transactions through GL in integration

Hi I'm new to GP and currently need to do an integration with GP with other systems. I am able to migrate all the inventory transactions information to GP, but don't know how to post all the inventory transactions through general ledger.

The way i am trying to do now is tracing all the procedure calls during posting, and trying simulate posting by calling all the procedures. This is not a good solution, since there could be some business logic beneath.

Can anyone tip me a clue?

You really do need to worry about the business logic behind doing anything in Great Plains. Sometimes all of the things that go on behind the scenes are not readily apparent.

Contact your VAR/GP Partner and have them fill you in on Integration Manager. The bonus with that product is that it takes care of the business logic along with the import of data.

Thank you for your reply. We have been using Scribe Insight and I don't know much about Integration Manager. Could you fill me some info about it? a link would be perfect.

I have looked into Integration Manager. It does moving records accross systems, but not in live. Also, I cannot find information regarding to posting batches/transactions through general ledger.

Hello Ack591.... integration manager will only post through to general ledger if the inventory posting preference is set to post through general ledger files.

we personally only post TO general ledger as we like to verify GL accounts before posting to the GL

you can access the posting preferences via tools>setup>posting>series inventory/origin transaction entry (or whatever integration you're using)
