Hi,
Using: CR XI R2 and Oracle 8i
I am trying to create a high-level dashboard using CR, that shows the following information in a bar chart.
YTD SALES ACTUAL VS YTD SALES BUDGET
YTD RETURNS ACTUAL VS YTD RETURNS BUDGET
YTD NET ACTUAL VS YTD NET BUDGET
Now I have created one sub-report to get the YTD actuals, and
I have another sub-report to get the YTD budgets
I store these in shared variables.
OPTION 1
In a main report, I insert these two sub-reports to access the shared variables. Then I try to insert a chart. Ofcourse, I CAN'T insert a chart in the "main" report because I don't have a data source, i.e., I am not pulling any data, I am merely inserting two subreports. And because of this fact, I think, the "Chart" icon is disabled, meaning I can't use this functionality.
so move on to
OPTION 2
Rather than creating two sub-reports and inserting them into a third main report. I simply insert the budget sub-report into the main Sales report. The reason I do this is because the Sales report will allow me to insert graphs.
So from the main Sales report I access the shared variables from the budget sub-report.
Once I insert a graph, no matter which type, whether it's bar, stacked, numeric bar, whatever
I CAN NOT ACCESS THE SHARED VARIABLES.
Do you guys know how I can plot "static" or shared variables in a graph, preferably a bar chart?
Any help would be appreciated?
Cheers,
mirogak
