Hi guys,

I have a specific extension that I need to play a pre-recorded message to any caller, just before the phone is answered.

I have a Option 61 Meridian PBX with Call Pilot 4.0 and access to Application Builder as well.

Any help figuring this out is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Rich

You could set up an appliction in call pilot using the DID as a SDN, playing the message, then transferring to the extension. Easy to do.

Hi Eddie,
Yep, I was able to do that and it does work yes you're right.

However one issue though.
It rings four times first before the announcement plays (default number of rings before voice mail answers).

Any idea how to avoid that initial wait for voice mail?

I was thinking of reducing the number of rings to zero, but it affects all the other phones with that RCO setting (which are quite a few looks).

Thanks for the help!
Rich

YOu know there are 3 RCO settings right? You can adjust RCO 2 or 3 to 0 to remedy that.

Hi Eddie,

Yep, you're right.
But looks like someone already used all of them for the extensions in use already.
On average looks like each one (CFN0, CFN1 and CFN2) are each being used by dozens of existing phones.

So any change I make will impact dozens of existing users, and I have to assume many of them will not like their phone not to ring before going to voice mail.

Was hoping there might be another way to do pre-recorded announcements for a specific extension.
Maybe use a phantom TN or VM forwarding somehow?

Thanks again for any help!
Rich

Yes, build it out like my example. Direct call forwarding will take care of it for you.

If it's a phantom DN, you can't have it as a DN on a TN, you would have to use two different DN's, with the phantom being unique. The announcement would transfer to the second DN....

Okay got it guys.

So looks like using the phantom DN is the way I'll have to do it then.

Thanks Eddie, thanks 30n30w!

Rich if you had it like eddie first said then it should not of rang 4 times. Sounds like you still had the DID going to the phone and then maybe the SDN. I would just build an ACD and a menu or annoucenment for it.
