Hi,

I am a novice to Flash.. So bear with me.

I am planning of putting songs into my website, so that anyone accessing my site may listen to songs. After going through the Flash help, I found out that in order to play music, one needs to import the music file into Flash. Well, I have about 200 to 250 files, and I cant import all of them into a flash file, the file will become too BIG!

Is there anyway to just put a URL pointing to the particular mp3 file, so that when the user clicks on a button, say 'Play', the mp3 file is fetched from the location and is played to the user?

Thanks for patiently going through my HUGE mail.

Thanks

Just an idea...but I would put each mp3 onto its own movie and use a LoadMovie script to load each song as it is needed. Might want to look into streaming also so it will play without having to load the entire song.

In the LoadMovie action it will allow you to specify the URL of the movie you wish to load.

When the movioe loads on top of your original level0..since it only contains an mp3 file... itn will play the music but will be transparent.

If you need more help with this...re-post with the specific questions and we will try to get you an answer. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

Thanks, TulsaJeff

But can you tell me one thing.. How to put a mp3 into a separate Flash and play it?

Thanks again

convert it into a wav and change the compression to mp3 and when you publish the movie it will be around 100-200kb if its like a 4min mp3

Are you using Flash 4 or Flash 5?

With Flash 5 you do not need to convert to wav. Simply go to file/import and select your mp3 file. This will import it into the library.

Select the layer you would like to put it on and drag the mp3 from the library and onto the stage.

Windows/Panels/Sound will open up the panel that allows you to set the sound options...Streaming, etc.

cntrl=Enter to preview

Are you wanting to put a button on each movie that will control the sound? music on/Music off sort of thing? Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)
