How to play a .swf or .flv from an html page

I have been given a .flv and .swf that needs to be played from an intranet web page. I have no experience of flash technology and the marketing department just assumed it would be easy once they got an external consultant to build the files.

Ohh...and they'd like it available on the intranet within 24 hours or else it will mess up their campaign. (.

Any help would be appreciated.
