I know there I have to create an entry in the registry to enable this. Could someone help me out?

The settings for brick-level backups are completely undependant of the job settings on the server/manager.
By right clicking the brick-level part of the Exchange Agent in the backup source you can define what should be backed up. Whatever you set for backing up 'flat-files' ( where you can choose whether to do full / differential / incremental backups ) will have no effect on the brick-level backups ( which is not a 'flat-file'or cold backup but a 'hot online' backup using MAPI functions.
So you can just setup an differential backup with the Exchange agent using default settings, this will result in a differential file backup with a full Brick-level backup

Thanks.

I wasn't sure anymore. It's been 2 years since my last exchange client and that one was on NT4 with Exchange 5.5 and I had at first gotten an error durring the differential backup that let me to find the registry key fix I mentioned. I'm now running Exchange 5.5 on W2K. You'll here from me next week if the same error comes up.

Have a great weekend!
