How to pause a bash script?

Hi folks,
It looks that I´m naughty, but I need to pause
a bash script for f.e. 5 secs.
Instead of counting in a for - loop,
there must be an elegant way to do this.
Any suggestions

thank you! Sometimes this linux, unix is
so easy! Never thought that this command
is available, it´s so uncryptic ;-)
