Hi there,

My SAVCE8 sever run live update on a daily basis. However up to now pattern file for live update still dated 19/5/04, while pattern file for intelligent updater already dated 24/5/04.

I tried intelligent updater on SAVCE server but it didn't work.

Just wondering how to configure SAVCE so that it can automatically patched up to intelligent updater pattern version?

Many thanks!

The updates; Live and Intelligent - are completely different. You can download and manually update the Virus Defs from using Intelligent Updater - the FAQ on doing that is here:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...88256e9e007ebac2?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam

and here:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...56ccd00597ce0&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=

Genrally speaking, and in my own experience, rarely will Symantec allow end users (corporate and private alike) to be left too vulnerable. I also believe that the new defs will be released later today sometime.

Hope this helps!

You shouldnt use the Intelligent updater on the server. You should download the xdb file and copy it to the correct directory on the parent server to update the virus defs.

Infomation about it.

How to do it automatically using a script.

Live update is released once a week weds or thursday i forget which, unless there is the virus outbreak then there will be a another live update release.

How ever they do release updates on a daily basis mon-fri which you can download manually.
