Hi,
I have 3 databases that I would like to password protect. Unfortunately, I cannot add a password via the open dialog > open exclusive option as the open exclusive option is gone.
Can anyone advise what would make this option disappear? Or is there another way of setting an Access password?
Thanks,
Knifey

Open your database. then, in the menu, click "Tools-->Security-->Set database password".

Hi MakeItSo,
When I try this I get the following message:

You need to have the database open for exclusive use to set or unset the database password. To open the database exclusively, close the database and reopen it using the open command on the file menu. On the open dialog box click the arrow to the right of the open button, then choose open exclusive.

My problem is that there is no option to open exclusive when I try this (only open or open as copy), any ideas?
Thanks,
Knifey

Are you sure the database isn't already open by another user ?
Check the .ldb file.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Hi PHV,
Yes, there is no accompanying .ldb file. Also, I've checked the task manager to see if I have any instances of Access running.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Knifey
