Using metaframe XP. THis is the question. An application ini file resides in the winnt directory on the Citrix server. We need to change this ini file. We need this change to be global. Am I right in understanding that changing the one in winnt will not change the existing ones that are stored in the user profile directories on that server. If this is true, how would you do a global change(a simple overwrite of the existing files would be fine) to all these existing ini files?

First a tip about how to edit the ini-files in the winnt folder. If an application has placed an ini-file in the Winnt/Wtsrv folder on your server and you need to edit the file, DO NOT edit the file manually in for example Notepad. This will change the timestamp of the file and the automatic copying of the file to the users profile will no longer work.
Instead use a small application called Iniwrite. The app is freeware and can be found at Read help before you change anything. I'm sure there are other apps like this but I have used this one and it works fine.

To replace the existing ini-files in the user-profiles couldn't you just write a script that runs when the users log on (for example in the Usrlogon.cmd) and make the script delete the existing ini-file (use the variable
%userprofile%\path).In thsi way the new edited ini-file from Winnt will be copied the the user profile the next time the user starts the app. Test it on one user first.
Hope this helps
