How to output in .mp2/.mp3 ??

I shoot digital video and edit it in Pinnacle DV500 Premiere 6 - all my output is in .avi format, often 500-800 Mb, too much for a CD-ROM. How do I convert an .avi file into .mp2 or .mp3 that everybody uses, and that appears to be more compressed? Will Adobe Premiere do it?

Help!!
