Dear Sir,

I have an executable MS-DOS program related with finite element modelling. It was originally compiled using
the Lahey F77L-EM/32 Fortran compiler. I have some problems
related with the program which I have written below:

1- I can't operate the program using MS-Dos prompt under windows 98SE. It gives errors during the solution time.
2- While using it under Ms-Dos 7.1, the solution time can reach many many hours for big sized problems.

So I can't use it effectively. Also I have the source code of the program. But it was written using Lahey F77L-EM/32 codes so when I try to compile it by using Compaq Visual Fortran, it is giving too many errors. Is it possible for me to operate it by making some small modifications in the program? I'll be very pleased if you can help me.

Best regards...

I don't know if I am too late to give a suggestion.
On the boot-up screen of Win98 systems, there is an option (I believe it is the last of four) to boot it in native MS-DOS mode. If you have not tried this, it's worthwile giving it a shot, as this version is more compatible to DOS than the command-prompt mode in Win98.
You may have to adjust the autoexec.bat and config.sys (just like you would do with DOS) to give yourself the maximum memory. Finite element programs typically take lots of memory and CPU time. They used to run for days on a main-frame machine before the personal computer era.
Good luck and best regards.
