I tried out the 2007 Microsoft word, and my trial ended. I made a whole bunch of documents with the 2007 word, but because I still have Word 2003, I cannot open the 2007 docs.

Help?

You need to download and install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 from microsoft - this link should work.

But if it doesn't just search the microsoft download website for it.

I installed the pack, though it still hadn't fixed the problem. The error still shows up. Do I have to do "something" to make Word "accept" the pack, or did I do everything right? (As in clicking through the installation)

Did you read the installation notes first and ensure you had installed all updates to word first? Including all service packs? If not, uninstall the pack and start again!

If these documents were created in a beta release of Word 2007, you cannot open them in either Word 2007 or Word 2003. That was made clear during the beta testing phase when the format was changed slightly.

You may be able to open and rescue the text in WordPad.

Yes - you were warned if you downloaded and installed any beta versions, however this is the trial version?

In addition to my earlier suggestions I suppose you could try setting the system clock back? But I don't recommend that method. Alternatively find someone who does have 2007 and get them to convert the docs for you? The latest version of Open Office might work? Why not give it a go?

stduc

The title of messages infers these were created with Word 2007 BETA - although the questions says the trial ended. Beta are also timee-bombed so I presume these really are beta created documents.

Would ilubtotoro confirm please.

tf1: I tried opening the documents with WordPad, but it comes out in code.

Sorry for the confusion; I used BETA, not trial.

I checked and have all updates synced.

So in otherwords, I cannot open the BETA files, even without compatibilty packs?

Opps, didn't realize I didnt install some couple updates yet.
I'll try installing these, maybe needing a reboot.
