How to Open with a default file type other than All Files (*.*)

Our users save files in folders that don't specifically have just one file type in them. When they navigate to a folder using Lotus they only see Lotus files. They are annoyed that I can't set WP the same way. In other words when they choose "Open" in WP9 the File Type always comes up All Files (*.*). They want the Open dialog box to come up with a default of WP Documents (*.wpd)

How can I get WP9 to save a default File Type of .wpd in the Open dialog box?
