I have a new computer and want to move my Email, contacts, etc. from my Outlook Express 6 account to my new Outlook 2003 account. So far I've tried the following with the following results:

TRIED: exporting email folders from OE
RESULTS: where is the file???? can't find it anywhere

TRIED: copying my OE mail folder to my new computer and importing this into Outlook 2003
RESULTS: Outlook 2003 reports that the file is open and it cannot import anything

TRIED: first solution, export to Outlook 2000 on my old PC, and then export from there
RESULT: Outlok 2000 export feature is not installed, do not have the old CD to reinstall :(

Boy is this getting frustrating! I hope someone can help.

Look under your username in documents and setting
..\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft
I'm using Outlook, so there is an Outlook folder.
The folder is normally hidden, you'll have to change the setting to view it. You'd want to copy the .PST files, and maybe the archive.pst, also.

What you can do is to install Outlook 2003 onto your old PC then open it. From there it will give you a wizard to import all your old settings from Outlook Express to 2003.

Once you have upgraded on the old PC you can either just copy your outlook.pst file to the new computer and open Outlook 2003 and import the file using Import/Export in the file menu. Or using the Import/Export in the file menu, export to a .pst file and just export what you need then copy that file to the new PC and import from it.

I did the same thing on a couple of pc's here and found this was the easiest and least time consuming.

Enjoy!
