I have two users, we'll call them Mary and Sally, that are currently located in Bldg A but will be moving to Bldg B.

Mary is at extension 202 (Logical ID 51 - believe that's the port number - and Setup Space 7150).

Sally is at extension 432 (Logical ID 137 - Setup Space 7236).

There are already lines in the "new" offices in Bldg B. There are phones in these offices with the following extension (etc.) information.

Mary will be at the phone currently assigned...

Extension 209 (Logical ID 58, Setup Space 7157)

So... 202 should ring where 209 rings right now.

***********

Sally will be at the phone currently assigned...

Extension 207 (Logical ID 56, Setup Space 7155)

So... 432 should ring where 207 rings right now.

I've seen different ways to do this (by "googling" here and there) but am not 100% which is most appropriate for my setting.

I am planning to make the change using WinSPM Release 9.0. It looks like I have "Legend release 7.0 v9.0 Mode Hybrid/PBX).

Thank you for your guidance!

And no, this being the first time I've had to do this, I would not feel humilated by "step by step" directions - or if you do not have the time, a link to the proper procedure.

You want to do a swap of 202 and 209, and another swap of 432 and 207

In WinSPM, go to Standard SPM

System Program
Exit
System Renumber
Single
Extension
202 - Enter
7100 - Enter
Extension
209 - Enter
202 - Enter
Extension
7100 - Enter
209 - Enter

What you have done is renumbered the first extension (202) to "something else" temporarily, so that you can renumber the second extension (209) to the first extension's old number (202), then you renumber the first extension (using its temporary number of 7100) to the second extension's old number (209)

Then go to Labeling, System, Extension, and change the names to match the numbers. Change any buttons that are different between them.

Before you do any renumbering, I would go to Print, More, Extension Info, and print each extension. When it prompts you for the name of the file to save to, put in the extension number and the letter A (so when you print Ext. 202, name it 202A). After your swaps, print them again, but name them the extension number and the letter B (this time 202B). Now you can go to View, Browse Notes and Reports, and use the File Compare button to load the A and B versions of the extension information. Then click on the File Compare button "<>" to show only the differences between the extension, so that you can go back and change any buttons that may be different.

A swap, right (although at this point we do not even need 207 and 209 moved over to the old offices). Perhaps in the future though.

TouchToneTommy,

Oh yes! I've seen Setup Space 7100 used for moving these extensions around but I was a bit concerned because on our "System Numbering Extension Jacks" form, 7100 matches Logical ID 1 and x200 which is the operator extension.

I have to assume, though, since you've only posted here about a million times, that you must know what you're talking about and that it's perfectly OK to use that Setup Space - temporarily as you say.

Thanks!

One good thing about the olde Legend is that if 7100 is being used by soemthing else in the system, it won't let you use it. You'll know when you try using it. If it doesn't work, try a different extension for the space filler. I personally use 500 as it is easy to remember and usually isn't being used anywhere else on the system. And if you mess something up, it's easy to do a print and quickly see where 500 is.

7100 matches Logical ID 1 and x200

Yup, logical ID starts life as Ext. 7100 when you're in setup space, but as you've noted, it's been renumbered to 200, so 7100 is no longer in use.

OK guys, thanks a lot. That was very helpful.

I just moved x432 and x207. Phones are ringing where they should.

I also printed the "before" and "after" status of the extension. That is informative.

In fact, I notice three differences for x432 after the move:

- Page Group is now: 794 (before there was no page group).
- Allowed Lists is now: [blank] (before it was "7").
- Fowarding to is now: 254 (before there was no forwarding).

I know the effect of forwarding since the person at x254 picks up.

Can I cancel forwarding in WinSPM on that extension or must I cancel at the extension itself?

And then enable forwarding for x207 from WinSPM?

Otherwise, what effect will the changes concerning Page Group and Allowed Lists have?

Allowed list won't matter, unless there are things in the disallow list that the allowed list is overriding.

It is now part of an internal paging group, since it's in a different building, they may be using that to page just the phones over there. Won't hurt to keep it in the group, but if the user becomes annoyed with receiving pages, remove it.

Forwarding is done from the phone, so go to the phone that is forwarded, Speaker, #33, and its own extension number to cancel. Then go to the phone that needs to be forwarded, Speaker, #33, and the extension number to receive its calls.

Just one question (move itself went fine, thanks to all for the help)

Then go to Labeling, System, Extension, and change the names to match the numbers. Change any buttons that are different between them.

If I go to Labeling, the closest entry I see for System (which is not present as an option) is "Directory".

Would that be the place to go?
