We are having major issues with the T1 PRI (or framer card). The controller gets several errors and reboots. To offset the rebooting I put T1 into "yellow" mode.

That stopped the rebooting, but what i didn't know is it would clobber several of our 480-32xx dids and some other ones.

Is there a fast and dirty way to move/reallocated those dids?

Our boss wants the upgrades/diags from VAR done in the evening and the closest time is Friday night.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

The Telco controls which PRI the DID'd terminate to.

I assume your PRI spans have separate D channels, otherwise they would be treated as 1 span. The Telco can set up the PRI's to automatically overflow from 1 to the other in the event of a failure.

Ah ha! Learn something new everyday. I will call them and request that service.

And out of curiosity, have you ever run into just 1 port going bad on the T1/E1 Framer module? (on sx-200)?

Thanks a bunch for your info!!

My experience of late with the 200 is not what it once was. Mitel's hardware as a rule is very reliable.

Have you considered swapping the 2 links? If the issue is with the 200, the trouble will remain on the same port. If the telco side is responsible the problem will move to the alternate port. Don't forget to check the cables either way. Mitel recommends shielded cable and in my experience, the recommendation is rarely followed.

Now thats a good idea! Yes, I tend to agree with you. About the only thing i've seen fail on that 200 was the HD. The cables should be good they are CAT 6 and I put that funny block where you loop the wire through it.

Thanks for the tips!!

Channels in PRI are virtual entities. It is a TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) circuit which will send information for the first channel, then for the next and so far so on. Then it goes to a demultipexor which separates information for different channels and it has a "state machine" which cycling through limited number of states just like a car engine. Part of it is implemented in hardware and other part is software. When you see one channel in PRI going bad then in 99.9% it is software issue and 0.1% is configuration :)

Curious, why are you taking errors? What is the T1 Clock source? This being a 200ICP - they don't come with a Stratum-3 Clock module... have you added this? I used to believe that you couldn't get the T1 to work without it, but I've seen where someone mistakenly didn't install it, the T1 would work, but they would get errors. 2nd hand info... but from a reliable source.

Hi Mark, this is an existing system. There is a Stratum installed. The clock source is the CO.

The feeling is that we are getting too many receive errors. The system frets and then restarts.

The CO had replaced both T1 cards.

I had it running steady using the 1rst T1 span into the 2nd port of the T1/E1 framer card.

Tuesday we kept getting re-order tones and had to put the 2nd channel back in. The the system became unstable.

The CO insists their connection is good so the only thing I can come up with is the framer card is having a problem or for some reason the syncing is getting out of sync when both T1's are installed.

Our service rep is coming at Friday 5PM to do a s/w upgrade. At this time, Mitel won't deal with us as our s/w version is too old.

Thanks!
