We have a new ISeries mainframe and i need to mount one of the NFS shares on the ISeries to my Solaris servers.

The Mainframe guys say that they exported the shares but i can not mount them.. It just times out after a while.

Any ideas on this???

What other debugging have you tried? Can you ping the iSeries servers? Does showmount -e nfsserver return anything?

Annihilannic.

I tried the showmount -e nfsserver and got the following:

RPC: Rpcbind failure - RPC: Timed out

I ping the server and i tried replacing the nfsserver name with ip nad nothing.

100mbs;

did you start nfs.client deamon on the solaris box.

/etc/init.d/nfs.client start

Thanks

Yep I had tried before i posted but i did again just to make sure and it still wont connect to ISeries.

Sounds to me like the problem is definitely at the iSeries end... either NFS services are not running properly, or they are speaking a different language to Solaris. Are the IBM folks able to mount those NFS shares between iSeries boxes to prove they're working?

Annihilannic.

3 things to check:

1) is rpc running on the IBM mainframe?

2) is there a firewall on the IBM mainfram?

3) What is the output of: rpcinfo -p "IBM mainframe

rpc is running on the mainframe.

The firewall between the SUN and ISeries has been opened up.

Here is the output of the rpcinfo command.
