How to monitor an activex control

I've googled till I'm blue in the face... how do you trace or monitor what is happening with a given activex control??

I have an application that uses an activex control with a web page - the application stops working, although IE reports the Add-in is enabled...

any way to monitor whether something is un-registering the activex?
