Hello,

I have NetWorker 7.4 and have some save sets that are showing as recyclable and expired. I need to get at the data on the tapes to recover my Oracle database. How do I change the status from "expired" to be available with a new retention policy? I've been reading the documentation, but I am confused as to what "browsable" means, and if I need to recreate the online index, or the media database or both. I can view the save sets name and SSID by right-clicking on the volume. Does this mean that the save sets are browsable? Does this mean they are still indexed and in the media database???

A save set only disappears from the media index (database) when the media is relabeled.

To control the size of the file index, NW uses the browse policy which by default expires earlier. Of course you can change this.

If a save set is not browseable any more but recoverable or recyclable, the info has already been deleted from the client file index (CFI). Consequently, you must re-index these save sets. The only way to do this is is by running the command "scanner -i -S ssid".
