Hello:

I just inherited the job of phone system admin, and I don't have the foggiest idea of what I'm doing. They think that just because I'm the company IT guy that I can figure this stuff out - boy are they wrong...

Anyway, when dialing our number a caller hears the standard "if you know your party's extension dial it now" message, and then it goes into a list of options. Press 1 for this - press 2 for that. When someone presses 1, it puts them through to an extension that isn't used anymore, so we need to change it to point to a different extension.

Is this possible without redoing the entire greeting message/menu thing?

I appreciate your help!

-Jim

Hi Jim, Please read first.

Go into voicemail admin
Press AA
Select table (most likely table 1, but check)
Press next till you get to CCR tree which will tell what tree is in use remember which tree it was.
Press change to disable it (you have to do this for changes to made to the tree.)
Press OK at disable
Press * two times to go back to menu.
Press button below other
press ccr
press admin
Type the tree you want to change(the one you just disabled)
You want to change path #1
It will most likely display 1 Xfer which is Ok. You just want to change the extension that 1 transfers to. Type new destination extension in. Press OK then save the tree.
After newly change tree is saved Go back to top of the instructions ,and renable the CCR#. It will display tree enabled. Go ahead and make test calls to make sure everything is going as it should.
Good Luck. Hope that helps
You don't have to change the greeting if the option still does what is advertised. EX. Press 1 for sales. If your new extension is still sales your recording should be fine. If its something diff you have to rerecord.
Once again good luck.
