Hi,

We have two instances of event servers running on UNIX system. And around 250 system files (.msl) are running (instance1-97, instance2-146).

The problem is that it is taking 70% -80% of the CPU utilization. Please tell me if there are any possible ways to decrease the CPU utilization for better performance.

The version we are using is mercator6.7.

Thanks!

Is CPU still high when nothing is happening - if so its probably mercator polling for messages.

What are you're systems polling - are they looking for files or queues?

if you could switch to queues (e.g. use Websphere MQ) you'll find these are much more efficient.

you can try increasing the polling interval and other settings in the mercator.ini file. have a look at "ListenSleepTime" and "DirScanWaitTime" for files and "PollWaitTimeMin/Max" for queues.

is it possible for you to reduce down the number of systems? E.g. we have several hundred FTP folders that we need to monitor but rather than check each folder individually we monitor the FTP server's Xferlog to detect where files have arrived (and then run a map to pick up the file).

Cheers, Olly.
