We are upgrading our DSL broadband from 1.5MBps to 3Mbps upload and download. We are using the same provider so all we have to do is sign a new contract and they will "upgrade" our service without us doing anything.

What I want to make sure is that the speed IS actually increased. What kind of before and after check can I do to confirm the speed has been upgraded. Is there any good tool that will give me an accurate measure of our current speed?

Thanks.

See if your DSL modem offers line status statistics. You can do a before and after check to see what the line was actually provisioned for from the CO.

If you browse you likely will find how to obtain these results for your particular modem.

Let us know what your speeds are. The fastest our Cisco's can go is a little over 8 meg. down but only little over 800k up. That is why it's call ADSL. 3 meg both up and down SDSL ? Have not seen any of that yet.
