How to measure amount of data passed?

I posted this in the AIX forum as well.

Can anyone suggest a way to measure the amount of data passed between a solaris web server and an AIX database server? I am trying to look into the bandwidth needs if the database server moves to a different location.

You could run snoop with an appropriate filter for the type of traffic you're interested in, dumping the raw data to a file, and monitor the growth rate of the file? I have used this method in the past for a similar purpose.
