I am trying to map a drive from a XP machine to a Linux server. The server is part of a nt network but does not run wins, proxy, dns etc. I have been able to map win98 & win2k to the share on the linux but XP keep giving 'cannot find path to server' it was not seeing the linux from the Domain it was in I added it to the workgroup of the linux boxes and still get the same error. although it was now seeing the Linux servers.

try this from WinXP command prompt

net use * \\linuxserver\share /u:user "password"

if that fails try the linuxserver IP instead of IP name.

What version of Linux and Samba are you using?
