hi, i am trying to making study flashcards that are 3x2 in size. The words that would be on the flashcards will be imported using excel and each field would have to be mapped to be in its right location on the 3x2 card. The fields will all have a different format such as font size and font style. Also we will need a separate 3x2 card that will parallel with it and show the corresponding answer. Can you help me with setting this us?

First, why is this question is an Access Forum?
Are you saying you want a computerized version of flashcard?
How about a powerpoint presentation? A slide could then have the word on one side and the answer on the other.
Why does the source of the words must be Excel? I don't understand.
Why 3X2 if it'll be presented on a computer???
Confusing.
Maybe more explanation to what you have, what you want with example, and why it's from excel would help.

IJTrades.

Sounds like you need to get this data into an MSaccess database, and then create a Label (for the size you need)

This will be a starting point for you.

i have over 1000 spanish words on an excel sheet. the words are grouped together and tagged with their lesson name. also for each word, it shows relevant words.

i don't think i can use powerpoint because input 1000 words manually would be very difficult and time consuming. i tried a outlook contact vcard but it doesn't keep the format i want when i go to print. which is why i believe an access form or something can help make a flashcard set. what do you think?

i guess my question is how to import and map the fields from the excel sheet into the access database.

thanks for your help. i am a real newbie at this

Use the command File>Get external data > import

Assuming the data in excell is all in a tabular format it should import OK
You can then look at creating forms based on your inported Tables

In regards to PowerPoint, you'd use VBA to place the words from Excel onto a slide, not manually.
Have you thought about just a Word mail merge? You can then use your Excel as a source and, using the label wizard, make any size "flash card" you want. In Access, you'll still need to print just labels.

thanks everyone. making the labels in access worked easily. my next questions is about formating the text. i am able to format the text of each label, but i was wondering if there is a way of spliting the text cell of the labels so i can have two different formats. for example:
text 2: {bold letter} {smaller font)
text 3: .....

thanks so much

In the Design view of your form/report double click the text box than you want to change the font in, and look under the format properties

You might also want to look at conditional formating, with the text box selected in design view use the menu Format>Conditional Formating

ijtrades- you can't do that in lower versions of Access. You can in Access 2007. You may want to look at the Microsoft Rich Text control from More Controls list on the Toolbox toolbar.
