You can automate repetitive tasks in photoshop using actions.
To do this, open the actions pallete by going to window>actions and then create a new action set. This will begin recording your steps until you click the stop btn in the pallete.
To then apply these actions to a set of images, use the Image Processor tool under file>scripts>image processor.
Here you can specify which images you wish to work with and set some rudimentary parameters such as file formats to save and any resizing you wish to be applied. Under section 4, check the box 'Run Action' and select your newly recorded actionset from the dropdown.
Hit run and watch as pshop does all the work for you..
