How To Make Port 445 Inaccessible

I received a warning today about the Deloder virus today. I visited

and here is part of what they had to say.
...The worm scans random IP addresses, trying to locate Windows machines which have port 445 accessible. However, many home computers have this port visible to the world and are vulnerable to this worm if the local administrator account has a weak password...

Does setting "Sharing" under "Properties" for the harddrive to "Not Shared" offer any protection???
