I am working on a project that would benefit greatly from the ability to be able to handle pluggin's. I am wonder if VB 6 can create such animals, ie programs that can handle pluggins.

When I speak of pluggin's I am refering to software that I have written in VB to expand another VB program's functionallity.

Any articles, discussions would be appreciated....

This is potentially a real can of worms you are opening here.

There are several possible approaches, and it very much depends on exactly what you are trying to achieve.

For example, are you simply saying that you've got a bunch of specialised functionality that you'd like to be able to add to any VB program, and you are happy to add the 'plugin' to provide that functionality at design time? If so, turn 'em into a class.

Alternatively you could add scripting capabilities to your application. The free option is to use the Scripting Host control, which will run scripts written in languages such as VBScript. The more expensive option is to licence VBA...

My guess is that what you want to do is have a feature similar to the plugins stuff in Photoshop or eXtensions in Quark - and that is likely to be a heck of a lot more work.
