I am new here to use Veritas.

There is a problem when using it -- how do I create a bakup job to backup a database of MS-SQL7.0 on-line,not scheduled?

The Normal and Differential jobs work very well, but Veritas doesn't backup transactions happened after the last Differential job was done.

I will be thankful for any suggestion!

Thanks a lot, Bobafet!

But what I would like to know is: Does Vertias Exec back up all the transactions happened between two Differentail Jobs "On-line"?

I have a Normal job which activates every Friday morning, and a Differential job which activates every morning of the working day, except Friday. Can I keep my data which were produced after today's Differential job if my database crash this afternoon? Or just only go back to the point of today's Differential job ?

I know you'll all laugh but try to help me after you're done laughing. I need to backup a system before I format it but don't know where to begin with the process. Any suggestions???greately appreciated.

I think what you probably want to do is setup hourly log only jobs of the DB and have those appends to tape. I'd set them up to clear the transactions so that each is very small. An even faster solution would be to setup such a schedule of hourly log backups in SQL Enterprise Manager and have it write to disk (faster than tape). If you have BENT 8.6 it also has the ability to backup to disk which would be ideal here since it would provide minimal interference w/ the live DB.
