Backup Exec v8.6 or v9. How would one go about duplicating a tape so I would have 2 copies of it?

More importantly, what if the tape in question has issues?

Perhaps it's a tape thats part of a sequence and i dont have the other tapes..

Perhaps it fails to merge or restore due to some corruption..

Would the copy succeed or fail in such a case? Would i still be able to make a duplicate of a corrupted/problem tape?

Thanks!

To duplicate a previous backup in Backup Exec 9.0, go to the Job Setup tab. Look in the left column for the link that says "New job to duplicate backup data". Click on that and follow the directions. I don't know how successful it would be if there were issues with the tape. If the data you want to duplicate is listed in the Restore selection list, then I think your chances are good that it will be successful. However if there's corruption and it failed to restore, I tend to think that it would fail to duplicate as well. However restoring is different from duplicating, so it couldn't hurt to try. Good luck!
