hey peeps,

just wondering if anyone can show me how to make a downloadable link. i know that when a file is big, it automatically promts to open or save. is there a way to have this for small files?

thanks.
peace.

Actually I believe it's the extension that decides whether or not clicking on a link prompts for the open/save dialog box. If you're wanting to offer a file that can be read by a browser (such as .txt or .pdf) for optional save, you'll need to put it into a zip file.

Hope that helps. If it doesn't, you might post what type of file you're wanting to allow download of.

Yep, it's just a garden variety hyperlink that you use. If the browser is capable of displaying the file it will, otherwise it will prompt to save.

As greedyzebra said, if you want it to prompt to save in all cases, you'd have to zip any files that might be readable.

You can check with your host as well for an FTP directory and link to it <a href=&quot;ftp://yourlink&quot;>
