Hello,

Does anyone know how to make a database work for only a period of time, with the option of making it work again w/o losing any of the information?

I'm thinking of implementing this, if a customer does not pay for a project by a certain date.

Any suggestion will be appreciated...

Hi,
This sort of TIME BOMB in the software is frowned upon by most customers and is called in the industry "Electronic Self-Help". It can be an effective negotiating tatic if used legally.

you might want to visit

and read what is legally allowed in terms of "time bombs" and "self-help"

Hi,
beyond the site above you might want to type in

"electronic self-help"

to your favorite search engine ( with the quotes so you don't get Self-help books about practically everything. )

and read both sides of the arguement. I got about 450 hits from yahoo.

just use an autoexec macro as follows:

1. In the macros tab of the data base window; Click new
2. name the macro as autoexec
3. use the conditions column and put a timing condition
eg Now Between #01/09/02# And #30/09/02#
4. In the Action column invoke the "Quit" Command.
If the Condition column of the macrowindow is not viewable click on View menu in the menu bar and select onditions
