how to make a copy-paste of japanese chars work

i use Illustr. v.10
need to use Japanese from Word docs, from Excel, from email

copy-paste (from Word into AI) does not work

thx in advance for help

note - Japanese is been checked up in Regional Settings (xjis.nls installed)
