Hi Guys!

I am using the demo copy of Teradata and would like to know how to log onto to FastLoad,FastExport and MultiLoad tools that come along with the Software.

Thanks in advance.....

Hi,

If ur using the windows client then u nee to make the following entry in Hosts file ( in C:\winnt\system32\driver\etc on NT/2K)

<ip of machine where TD is installed> dbc dbcbynetc dbccop1

use

.logon dbc/<user id>, <passwd>

in fastload or any other utility scripts.

I doubt Multiload is available with Demo CD.

Sample script for FastExport:

.logtable temp_db.fxp_log;
.logon trng,trng;
.begin export;
Select * from retail.Item;
.export outfile D:\data\item.dat format text mode record MLSCRIPT D:\data\item.mlt;
.end export;

Hi,
The SAMPLE DATABASE on the DEMO disk is fastloaded into the Teradata server. All the scripts are provided so you can delete and recreate this table at will.

You should be able to find the Fastload script on the DEMO cd.

under the directory

Program Files\NCR\Teradata For Microsoft Windows Demo\bin\data

Thanks usatish,

I shall goahead with the info given. You are true, MultiLoad is not available with Demo CD. Can you give sample script to load the default scott database available in Oracle onto Teradata?

bye,

Hi,

I never worked with oracle...so not aware of scott database. For sure Teradata cannot load directly from oracle. So you will have to export all tables in scott database in text file.
Look at the sample files provided in the demo CD's (as mentioned by 'tdatgod'). you can create a table from fastload script.
If you can give me describe of a table, then I can give you the fastload script.

Regards,
Satish :)
