I am trying to link 2 tables within the Database -> Visual Linking Expert.

I know which two fields in the tables are to be linked. When I highlight the first table's column and then drag my mouse to the column of the 2nd table, I do not see any link established.

I know this sound like a very simple thing, but how can i link my tables?

Thanks.

Hi,
When you drag the field over to Table2 do you get any popup message about the link you are attempting to make?
Any X symbol?

What database?

I found that in 8.5 it sometimes took several tries to get the tables to link. I also found that if I lined up the table objects in the linking expert so that I could draw a straight line from one field to the other it usually worked better.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Are the fields the same data type?

The way to link in visual linking within crystal reports 8.5 is that when you drag from the one table to the other, that you hold the mouse just a little beneath the field that you want to link to, then release the mouse button and the link will be there.

Yeah...I tried the same alignment of tables. And linking works. Yes I am linking the columns which are of the same day type.

Thanks for all the input.
