I am trying to approach with ODBC Link (get external data)
in Msaccess 2003 contact with my new ACT7 (sql) but I failed
sofar. I tried to make ODBC for Sql via Settings/ODBC Data sources, but it is not working, maybe I made mistake somewhere.
I am new so ...
I can via Start worl with SQLexpress and I have a demo
database which is working well, but I need to see the ACT7 database there....
I work with Windows Authent.

I see Notebook\SQLEXPRESS and NOTEBOOK\ACT7 as servers,but
only with Notebook/express and get the program and with NOTEbookACT7 I get an error report,"failed....
All is on one machine, the Notebook.
William and thanks!

First, do you want to just read the ACT! data, or do you need read/write access?

If you just want to read the data, you have two choices:
OLEDB - ACT! Reader and then SQL or ODBC -
If you actually want to be able to write to the database, you need to use the SDK (which requires programming in .Net) -
I use all three methods regularly depending on the requiements for the particular project.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Maybe there is another alternative?

For GL Computing

I need to write to some (e.g.secondary /detail/contact fields)

With standard import of contacts and/or companies/groups I cannot access the secondary contacts to write data to from
(Goldmine dbase 6.7) or with Import Dbase file and/or CSV
files.
I have 50.000 companies in Goldmine and like to have it also
in ACT7. I bougt MigratAdmin, but working only for smaller
number of addresses (they said to me AFTERWARDS).

I can ACT defaultstandard import all 50.0000 addresses/contacts, but not "Details" (Contsupp.dbf in Goldmine) In details/Goldmine Tab I have
products listed of e.g. Australian Wine Inc. what sort of wines they produce like Chardonnay,XXXsort,YYYsort etc.
From Itimport I cannot see whether that is able to do handling of all (dbase) files into ACT7.
Not afraid to pay USD 500 but it should be working and not promissing like MigrateAdmin and stuck with 5500 addresses only and then they say: Buy Server ST version (for USD 1500)

What do you suggest to (regurlarly) write to ACT files ?

Thanks for your help, which I gave it already a star!

The best import for CSV file to ACT! is itImport. There are no limites that I have seen. It can also do things MigrateAdmin can't - notes, histories, activites, sales opportunities, etc...

Let me know if you have any other questions
